Reflective Journal Entry: Health Care Delivery and Clinical Systems
During this week, I learned about healthcare delivery and clinical systems. During the entire practicum, I have found out that healthcare delivery systems comprised of individuals, organizations, and institutions that collaborate to ensure the best care are rendered to patients. in healthcare delivery, the power of technology is harnessed to improved efficiency and accuracy, and reliability at all times. I found out that healthcare issues such as medication errors, the pressure falls, and hospital-acquired infections are directly dependent on the efficiency of the organization’s healthcare delivery system.
To ensure improved healthcare delivery, organizations must integrate evidence-based practice, Clinical Information Systems, Administrative Information Systems, and emerging technologies such as Artificial intelligence, wearable devices, and big data analytics. For instance, wearable devices can be used to foster improved healthcare delivery for individuals with chronic health conditions such as diabetes, congestive heart failure, and hypertension, among others. Clinical information systems can improve healthcare delivery by allowing seamless and secure transfer of patient healthcare information between providers for effective diagnosis and development of accurate treatment therapy. Artificial intelligence and big-data analytics have a great potential of being applied in precision medicine where medications can be tailored for a specific individual or population, hence improving care outcomes.
The modern healthcare delivery systems must, therefore, adapt to the dynamic nature of the healthcare system. With an increasingly aging population with multiple chronic conditions, healthcare delivery systems should commit themselves to deliver high-quality patient-centered care for improved outcomes.
